Truck Stop and Travel Center
Discover how Elarafy provided network infrastructure, structured cabling, Wi-Fi, and security solutions for a truck stop and travel center to improve connectivity, operational efficiency, and customer experience across the facility.
PROJECT OVERVIEW
An American truck stop and travel center company operating multiple locations across Canada. These locations require reliable, well-organized, and scalable IT infrastructure to support 24/7 operations. Our work focused on new store builds and renovations of existing stores, all delivered within live construction environments. Each project was executed in phases to align with construction schedules while ensuring that store operations remained active.
Throughout the project lifecycle, we maintained close coordination and regular handshakes with company's Network and IT Support teams to ensure smooth execution, proper cutovers, and seamless handover. MAIN OBJECTIVE Deliver structured cabling, low-voltage systems, and full IT project management for new and renovated locations across Canada. Follow provided drawings and standards for all installations. Maintain uninterrupted store operations during construction and renovation. Ensure strict compliance with safety and working-at-height requirements.
CHALLENGES
Renovation projects performed in live, 24/7 operational environments. No allowance for system downtime during construction activities. Cleaning and reorganizing IT rooms while keeping all systems live. Coordinating conduit placement and cabling with active construction schedules. Coordinating indoor, outdoor, and fuel canopy installations simultaneously. Working around active fuel dispensers and vehicle traffic. Managing safety risks associated with working at heigh.
Transformative Solutions for Business Success
All projects were executed using a phased deployment strategy, with early coordination alongside construction teams to define conduit locations and pathways. Temporary IT and POS setups were implemented to prevent any service disruption, while all cabling and installations strictly followed standards and drawings. Safety planning was integrated throughout every phase, supported by licensed technicians using proper equipment for canopy and exterior work.
IT rooms were cleaned and reorganized without affecting live operations, systems were tested and verified at each stage, and a smooth handover was ensured to company’s Network and IT Support team.
SCOPE OF WORK
Installed Cat6 structured cabling and performed fiber termination strictly according to provided plans. Coordinated with construction teams to identify conduit requirements and ensure proper conduit placement before walls and ceilings were closed. Provided new data cabling to equipment that is part of the overall fuel system and required for fuel pump operation, including NexGen, Veeder-Root, and Warren Rogers equipment. Installed speaker systems for music and paging inside stores and under fuel canopies. Installed CCTV cameras inside and outside the stores.
Deployed wireless access points throughout stores and under fuel canopies. Installed intercom systems as required- Installed TVs in driver lounges and digital menu screens with backend connections in the IT room. Installed shower access control systems using keypad-based entry. Installed shower monitors as part of the shower access control system with backend setup in the IT room. Installed Starlink systems including mounting, cabling, grounding, and network integration where required.
IT ROOM CLEANUP & ORGANIZATION
Removed abandoned and unused cabling from IT rooms during renovation projects. Organized and dressed network racks with proper cable management. Properly mounted network and IT equipment. Labeled all cables and devices for easy identification. Created clean, organized, and support-friendly IT rooms for store employees and IT teams.
IT PROJECT MANAGEMENT & SAFETY
Managed IT and low-voltage project activities from start to finish. Planned and executed work in phased deployments aligned with construction schedules.
